Das Schwarze Auge

1 Variant History Edit

Das Schwarze Auge (DSA) (Original German title for: The Dark Eye (TDE)), is a German role-playing game created in 1984. It is the most successful role-playing game on the German market, outselling Dungeons & Dragons. The fourth edition of The Dark Eye was published in 2002. (Source WP)

The game world is now extremely detailed and extensively-described through published game material as well as through more than 100 novels and several computer games. There are three audio plays and half a dozen board games.

The now very detailed rules and the sheer volume of background information can be intimidating to new players. Still it is the system with which most German RPG players will be familiar as it is the "default" RPG in Germany pretty much the way D&D is in English speaking countries.
