Iron Heroes

A variant player's handbook written by Mike Mearls and published through Monte Cook with Sword & Sorcery Studios -- itself an imprint of White Wolf. Later, a revised edition was released by Fiery Dragon Productions, first in PDF and hardcopy later on.

Iron Heroes focuses on a "swords 'n sorcery" style of roleplaying, akin to the Conan stories in that the player characters rely on internal abilities and skills to carry the day against sorcerers and other dark beings. Unlike Dungeons & Dragons' typical style of play, Iron Heroes has very few, if any, magical items and magic-using player characters are rare.
