Dungeons & Dragons

65 Variants History Edit

D&D is the longest running, most popular major tabletop roleplaying system out there. It has been through several different incarnations since its inception in the early 70's. The second edition rules remained in print for roughly 20 years before Wizards of the Coast bought the game and gave it a major rewrite/facelift and a 3rd edition release in 2000, as well as a 3.5 revision in 2003.

The current version of the rules was released in 2008 as "Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition," which does not use the d20 system and its content was not released under the Open Gaming License.
