D&D is the longest running, most popular major tabletop roleplaying system out there. It has been through several different incarnations since its inception in the early 70's.
This Link refers to the original hard bound version of the game: AD&D means AD&D 1st Edition. "AD&D 2nd Edition" was labeled as such on all products published by TSR and was a very different system based on 1st Edition.
