RPG Dimwits is a gaming group devoted to playing tabletop roleplaying games in an online environment. Our game sessions and campaigns use rules-lite systems that focus on storyline, characters, quick action, and settings over rules and mechanics. Our games sessions are held online using OpenRPG and Skype, both of which are freeware.
Currently there are only a handful of members, but we are looking to change that. We are an older group, most of us in our thirties, but are open to anyone over the age of eighteen. Anyone interested in joining up as a player, or GMing a game themselves, should visit our webpage at http://rpgdimwits.netcipia.net.
We are currently running or organizing the following campaigns :
Dustlands : "Dustlands" is an RPG campaign taking place in a harsh, post-apocalyptic America. While there are certain science fiction elements in this setting, the emphasis is on the struggle to survive and prosper in a dangerous and inhospitable world. Interaction between PCs and NPCs plays a key role in this campaign as well, since true loners tend to lead very short lifespans in this Post-Apocalyptic world. Dustlands is played using a set of house rules based loosely on the Fudge roleplaying system. Emphasis is on roleplaying, descriptive action, and rules-lite mechanics. Our currently scheduled meeting time for this campaign is 7pm Thursday evenings, Pacific time.
WWII Commandos : A rules lite WWII campaign. Players will take the roles of members of a covert operations team during the European Theater of World War Two. This campaign is still in the planning stages, and more information will be coming soon.
Awakenings : One of our members, Kevin, is planning a Star Frontiers campaign. This one should appeal to old school gamers and fans of the old TSR game and setting. He has been pretty secretive about the details so far, but this is shaping up to be a very interesting campaign premise.
Some of the other ideas that have been batted around include Call of Cthulhu, Talislanta, and a Zombie themed campaign. Most of us have a fair amount of experience playing a variety of different games, so if you have something in particular that you would like to play just let us know!
