I just recently picked up the new Star Wars Saga Edition (SW/SE)
and have noticed that they seem to have incorporated a number of
things from the old WEG Star Wars RPG.
I was wondering, for those that have both RPGs, what you think
of the new system vs the old?
I enjoy d20 games but, for Star Wars, I feel that the d6 system
works better... captures the cinematic feel of the movies
better.
Then again, that could just be nostalgia biasing my opinion.

Ya, me too... plus what else are we going to use all of those
d6s with ;)
I'm still reading all the d20 rules, got all 4 of the SW/SE
books so there's a lot of reading to do. (The only d20 game I had
in the past were some of the D&D 3.0 books, and they didn't
thrill me. I guess I'm just old school for AD&D. I am starting
to like the SW/SE d20 rules though! LOL )
And I still keep coming across WEG stuff (I've even gone back to
those books to make sure) in the d20 rules. Which is good, since I
have always thought that the WEG system handled it quite well
:)
Hope to hear from more of you Star Wars gamers. ;)
Later!
IMO...
D20 Star Wars is more detailed mechanics wise.
WEG Star Wars is less detailed mechanics wise.
I don't like the idea of levels and all the various min-max
options of the D20 system. However, the WEG system gets
overbalanced once the characters reach a certain point in their
stats.
I think that the storytelling and world building can work for
either but there is definitely more nostalgia for the WEG version
and that it was comparatively simpler to run and play though "less
realistic" if one can use that description.
