I am trying to get a local chapter of Amtgard started in the Sioux Falls area.

What is Amtgard?
Fill me in, the gaming scene is dead and long rotten here in SF, and where it is alive it's insular, exclusive, smelly, mentally unbalanced, and D&D-only.
I'm willing to learn something new if it means doing something related to the hobby I love and never get to do.
I don't know if you still check this, but I will be moving to Mitchell during this summer and I would like to help out with your chapter if you have it up and running. If not I can help start one with you.
Sorry for taking so long to reply. I was under the impression that there was less interest than I had first assumed. Hopefully this will still be checked. First: We do have a chapter somewhat organized, but up and running none the less. More info at the sites listed, or by emailing me directly. salaysen@yahoo.com

Second: What is Amtgard? Amtgard is at its core a LARP, based in a medieval / fantasy genre. There is a large emphasis on both combat, and the Arts & Sciences of the period. Combat is safe, and uses foam padded replica weapons. There is also a full rules system, that includes a combat safety system, a class system, as well as a magic rules system. There is also the possibility for awards, and advancements for fighting prowess, as well as the Arts & Sciences. If you like LARPing, and the genre in question, then there is a place in Amtgard for you. For more info please check the sites above.
I saw the ad for a local amtgard in Dragon's Den, up next to my piece of paper offering to GM Feng Shui RPG. As a martial artist, fencer, and a pirate at the renfair, I'm interested.
