Hi all, After much grief and a lot of playing around, here's the method (albeit a bit of a hassle) for getting your location in London pinned. Cut and paste this map ref into your location field, 51.50800, -0.12900 It's for Trafalger square. To move your pin UP or Northwards modify the first set of numbers by making them larger. Start out by modifying the 50800 figure until you get the right location on the X axis. Off course, to move DOWN, or South, simply decrease this number. To move LEFT, or west, make the number larger as with the X axis, and off course to go RIGHT, or East, make it smaller. Off course, this number is a negative, but don't worry, just increase or decrease the numbers as necessary. Get one axis right first, then move onto the next. It takes some time and error, but is surprisingly fast once you're comfortable with throwing the pin around. Good luck and lets have some more Londoners on the map, eh? John

While using lat/long works, UK addresses should be working just fine now. Are they not?

Sorry, still throwing up the "Location: Please don't cover other areas with your tag" message when I input my location. This is what I'm entering in the field... stanstead road and carholme road, london, uk John

That error should only happen if someone is within 100' (30 meters) of where you want to place your marker; it's to keep markers from overlapping too much until I can build a better solution.

Are you seeing that for any intersection you put in? Could you give me a few examples? Maybe I'm getting back bad geocoding data.

It seems that just having London in the location field creates a problem. Whatever location is put in throws up the same Location error as above. I have tried many different variations including... oxford street and regent street, London, UK carholme road, London villiers street, London And the results have been the same. When you omit London from the field, the pin ends up in North east England, irrespective of the junction or street given. There can't be an issue with having another pin too close, as there are only three Londoners pinned, and there's approximately a ten Km distance between the two nearest pins. John

It looks like the UK geocoding is fairly lousy, unfortunately. So it's not giving more me the more-specific latitude and longitude I need, it returns one lat/lng for every address in a given city. Argh.

I'll work in a way to let you drag and drop a pin to set your location, but it's a few days away.

Thanks, UK gamers, for your patience and tinkering.

OK, I've got a workaround for UK geocoding online now. Just edit your profile and click where you want your marker to be.
