Hi all, Great site, but jus a couple of queries. Everytime I try to add my location (Stanstead Road and Carholme Road, London, UK), I get this "error...Location: please don't cover other markers". Any ideas? Also, any way to narrow down locations by game, when I click on a tag, it throws up all the people with those tags. I've then got to click through each individually to work out where they live. Again, any ideas? John

That error means someone else has their marker right at that location or within a hundred feet, so you have to space yours out a little.

As for finding people -- go to the tag page and then look at the map on the right to see where everyone is. When you're on a tag page, only the people with that tag are shown on the map.

Many thanks for that. The tag + map now make sense, however, whatever I put in the location throws up the same error message. There appears to be only one person currently on the London map, could this be interfering with anyone else adding their pin to the big smoke? Any other Londoners out there having similar problems, or is it just me? John

Just to confirm, it looks like it's the London tag causing the problem. I can add my location as a junction without adding London (just UK) and it places the pin near Newcastle on Tyne. Add the London tag add I get the same old error message. John

Hey Guys,

I guess it could be me who has clogged up the whole London area? I actually live an hour out of London, but any other more local address I tried just failed. I am happy to remove my location so someone else can have a go.

The way UK addresses are added to the map really needs to be addressed.

Hi Andy, Perhaps this is a UK thing? Anyone else in the UK having problems getting their exact location pinned? As for moving the pin, it's worth a go, what's the worse that could happen ;) John

Right, after much playing around I've managed to get a somewhat accurate pin location on the map. This was done with much trial and error using a map reference. Input the reference as 1.2345,6.7890 where 1.2345=the North coordinates and 6.7890=the west coordinates. Make sure they're seperated by a comma. What I found was that you have to play around to get it near your location and the final map ref bears no relation to the actual, real world map ref which I got from the web. Still, it's a solution, if not an ideal one. John

Well since "Matt_NuMediaJunk" appears to have put "Aberdeen, UK" as their location I can't put anywhere within Aberdeen as mine. Since I know "Matt_NuMediaJunk" personally I'll have a word tomorrow but it does strike me that either this needs to be addressed or policed in some way.

This will give you a longtitude and latitude location by address. I think..

I'm having a similar problem, based in Plumstead Common SE18 7TF in Woolwich, London UK

I've ended up in Woolwich Canada, and cannot get it to accept any of the options!

Hi, Use the solution on this thread. It's not ideal, but serves as a workaround until the issue with the London map can be resolved. John

OK, I've got a workaround for UK geocoding online now. Just edit your profile and click where you want your marker to be.

Fantastic! Many thanks for sorting that out. It'll certainly make life easier. John
